Moonlight In The Dark Night
Emotions are like the water in a long river which starts in the mountains and ends at the sea. Just as the pattern or the flow of the water in a stream is determined by the lowest place available for the water to flow, your emotional reactions are determined by whatever is low within yourself. Your response is different at different times because your psychological condition changes constantly during your everyday life.
The difficulty for many people in being spiritual is not because they are not moral or spiritual enough but because they are captive to their emotions. It can be overcome.
People’s emotional flow is exactly like the flow of water. Underneath the smooth surface of a river, rocks or holes can make the water become turbulent. Similarly, if under the smooth surface of a person’s exterior there are rough or unrefined places, this will make the person’s emotions become turbulent. The water, gathering together becomes a strong flow which goes all the way down to the sea. It is dangerous for a boat, the substance of life to travel on the river. People do not see the danger ahead.
In “Moonlight In The Dark Night”, Master Ni discusses the topics of emotion and love in order to not only help his readers have a better life but to also transcend the worldly sphere for higher spiritual development as a spiritually transcendental person.
